"Oh, the places you'll go." - Wall Lettering

"Oh, the places you'll go." - Wall Lettering

One of the most utilized rooms of our home is our upstairs playroom.  With three kids, under the age of 6, it’s no wonder the room is so well used.  Because my kids spend so much time in there, I wanted to create a great atmosphere, and did so with wall words made from vinyl lettering.

I started with a theme.  I chose the theme “world traveler.”  I got a large map, had my husband build a frame for it, which I painted black.  Next, I purchased 4 inexpensive clocks from Target.  Above the clocks in vinyl letters I put the words London, Tokyo, Paris, Provo – and set the clocks to reflect the time of each of the places.

Next, I found some fun quotes about travel, like one from Dr. Suess “Oh, the places you’ll go” etc.  These quotes I did in coordinating colors, and randomly affixed them to the walls with the same wall letters.  We ended up with a fun playroom that my kids absolutely LOVE!

Decorative Sign Made from Vinyl Lettering

Decorative Sign Made from Vinyl Lettering

One of the many things you can do with vinyl lettering is create decorative home decor signs.  While many people love their wall lettering, and wall words, some like to have their quote or saying on a sign.  One benefit signs have over wall letters is that you can take a decorative sign with you wherever you go, or can move it around as you’d like.  Decorative signs can be used in more ways than simply hanging them on the walls.  You can use them in a decorative easel and use them as a table display, or a display on a fireplace mantle.  Also, if you have kitchen cabinets that don’t go all the way to your ceiling, a small decor sign with some vines makes a beautiful filler for the empty space.

Whether you’re building a sign for yourself, or as a gift, make sure to get your vinyl letters from a company that offers high quality vinyl.  Many lettering companies are trying to cut costs by using cheap vinyl that will fade, peel, and crack.  Rest Assured, Wall Stamps Uses ONLY the highest quality vinyl wall lettering.

One option for adding some appeal to the walls of a nursery or child’s room is to add their name to the wall using wall letters.  Letters that spell a child’s name look great above a crib, dresser, or bookshelf, and they also make a great gift.  When adding wall letters there are a couple of options for making this happen. You can either use wooden letters, or vinyl lettering to to make your wall words.

Wooden Wall Letters

Wooden wall letters come in all shapes and sizes, so you have a number of options here.  they can either be solid wood, or a MDF composite material.  Either way, you’ll usually need to paint them, or add some decorative paper to them using modge podge, or glue. Or, they can be painted in pastel colors for a baby’s room, or vibrant colors for a child or teen’s room.  Some of the benefits of doing it with wooden letters is that you get the 3-D look.  However, your options for creativity are less with this method.  On the other hand, you could use vinyl wall lettering.

Vinyl Letters

Vinyl letters are another way to add wall letters to the walls of a child’s room.  While you don’t get the 3D look, there are some definite advantages to doing it this way.  First, you can tap into your creativity more by getting custom vinyl lettering made to suit your exact need, size, and color.  Also, you get a nice hand painted look that’s much more intricate than what are offered by wood wall letters. You can choose your custom wall words to either feature your childs name, or a favorite poem, etc.  They can also feature cute graphics, and vinyl wall lettering kits make great room boarders as well.

Romantic Quotes in Vinyl Wall lettering

Romantic Quotes in Vinyl Wall lettering

Stenciling words onto your walls has been a growing trend in interior design since the early nineties.  Hcouowever, stenciling has traditionally been reserved for upscale homes due to the cost and labor involved in achieving a professional looking result. In the last couple of years, however, this trend has taken a turn for the better with the introduction of removable vinyl lettering, sometimes referred to as “Wall Words.” Wall Words have come full swing in the last two years as several sites have introduced removable vinyl letters for the walls of your home. Having a custom stenciled look is no longer reserved for those who can afford to have the wall letters painted on, but is available to even those who are seeking to decorate on a modest budget.

Wall Words, and custom wall lettering is now available to anyone wanting to achieve a hand stenciled look – at literally a fraction of the cost. Furthermore, not only can vinyl wall lettering serves the same purpose as a hand-painted stenciled look, but custom vinyl lettering is actually better than stenciling for a couple of reasons. First, vinyl lettering is easy to apply, there is no messy cleanup, and costs less than paint. Secondly, vinyl lettering kits, or custom wall words, are removable without damaging the walls, so there is no need to repaint. This provides those living in apartments, or other temporary living spaces to decorate with a hand-stenciled look, because you can simply remove the lettering at any time – no need to repaint!

Some may be asking, “Why add wall words, or wall lettering to the walls our home or apartment?” The answer is simple; Wall Words can create an inspiring, calming, or uplifting effect to any room in your home. They also give your home a touch of personality, and can bring your own personal charm into your decorating. Once you’ve seen some examples of how wall words can enhance the look and atmosphere of your home, you’ll be hooked! The practicality, cost, and beauty of wall words have inspired me to utilize them in many of the homes and apartments I decorate – You could say I’m “Stuck” on wall words.

go001For many people, summer is the best time of year.  Whether you’re fishing, golfing, or relaxing in the pool, summer brings families and friends together in outdoor activities.   Summer is also the time when families get together for family reunions.  This is a fun time for most of the families, but can be stressful for those in charge of planning the family get together. Especially stressful can pa0021be planning activities to keep everyone involved, busy, and happy.  One thing many families do is institute a craft hour, where families can choose certain crafts to make.  One way to make this go off with a bang is to plan a few crafts that everyone (men, women, and children) will enjoy.  We’ve found that  making decorative signs is a fun way to do that, and it works best if you have vinyl lettering kits that cater to each group – women, men, and children.  We’ve had great success helping people make small 6″x12″ signs a part of their family reunion craft activity by providing vinyl letters kits about Golf, Patriotism, Kids Quotes, etc – which gives everyone something to participate in.  While our custom vinyl lettering kits are great for signs, they can also be used for decorative tiles, and wall letters (sometimes called wall words).  ct039

Vinyl Lettering Adds Elegant Appeal to Any Bedroom

Vinyl Lettering Adds Elegant Appeal to Any Bedroom

Did you know that the average person spends 1/3 of their life sleeping?  Given such, it’s only fitting that the room in which we spend one third of our lives deserves a little bit more attention when it comes to decorating than most of us give it.  Most people who are aware of their surroundings make an effort to choose stylish bedroom accents, however many features of the bedroom decor go neglected.  The floor, and walls, for example, is one place that few people spend any time on when decorating.

There is no reason in the world why you can’t incorporate your bedroom floor into your overall bedroom décor, and in doing so give yourself a truly unique room. Bedrooms, above all, should suggest comfort and luxury. Scattering some floor pillows around your bedroom will add to the opulent look suggested by your bedding and bed pillows. It’s just one of many different approaches you can take when planning the layout of your bedroom.

Don’t feel as if you’re doomed to failure simply because you lack training in interior design. There are plenty of simple and affordable ways for you enhance not only the appearance, but the “feel” of your bedroom. Try adding a contemporary lock with a few brightly colored modernistic paintings, or some abstract of sculpture, and a few touches of chrome. Choose bedding and bed pillows and complementary colors (black, white, and bright primary colors are all great for modern look.)

The walls are another place you can add simple, yet elegant touches to your home decor.  Consider adding some vinyl lettering in a contrasting color to that of your walls.  For example, silver wall words on a dark red wall give your room a touch of elegance, without being too overwhelming.  These wall letters can go a long way towards giving your bedroom a comfortable, yet elegant feel.

vinyl wall lettering

vinyl wall lettering

Are you looking for a new way to add a little personality to the walls of your home? Tired of the same old decor? You may be surprised to find that vinyl lettering may be the perfect solution to your dilemma. Vinyl letters lend a unique touch to bare walls. Most other people decorate their walls with paintings, photographs, etc. which is alright, but you can make a much more personalized and custom room with some beautiful wall words.

Wall letters can be used to decorate the walls of practically any space. Anyplace from stores, to houses to offices, can utilize the versatility of vinyl wall lettering. They are also great for temporary, or short term applications such as birthday or super bowl parties, wedding receptions, and more. Wall lettering is a simpler and more elegant way to announce the occasion rather than using banners that somehow look messy out of place – no matter how well designed they are. Office spaces can utilize custom vinyl lettering by having a motivational motto affixed on the wall of their conference room or sales office in order to boost your employees’ morale. Or, you could opt to put your logo and tag line in your front office. In the home, you can use vinyl lettering kits on a child’s bedroom wall, displaying a favorite line from a cartoon show or movie. Your bedroom can also be a source of inspiration thanks to a wall emblazoned with your favorite quotes.

No matter what the project, you can make your walls look more attractive, and simply the fact that you have writing on your wall will be a great conversation piece.

Kitchen Decor Plates Using Vinyl Lettering

Kitchen Decor Plates Using Vinyl Lettering

I love to go to people’s homes and see unique decor, especially in the kitchen.  I’m constantly amazed at how often vinyl lettering can be used in home decor. Aside from the traditional wall words, vinyl lettering can create some really unique home decor, even in the kitchen.  Recently I was at a friends home and saw some really unique decor items in her kitchen.  She had some very nice vines along the top of her kitchen cabinets with a nice home decor sign that featured a quote about hot bread (butter 25cents extra), along with some other items.  However, what reallly caught my eye were some decorative plates she had next to her stove, right under her spice rack.  They were simple ceramic plates that matched the decor of her kitchen, but the plates had printed on them different vegetables, such as tomato, onion, olive, etc.  They were on plate stands, and the lettering and graphics were painted on.  I thought, “how easy would this be to recreate using vinyl lettering?”  So, I went to the store, bought a couple of colored plates that matched my decor ($2.00 each) and recreated the decorative plates using vinyl letters. When all was said and done, I had recreated the same decorative plates at a fraction (about 1/4) of the cost that my friend paid for her decorative plates.

Elegant Bathroom Decor with Vinyl Lettering

Elegant Bathroom Decor with Vinyl Lettering

Aside from the bedroom, the bathroom is often another difficult room to decorate. If you’ve ever looked at home decor or interior design magazines you’ve probably seen how stunning an elegantly decorated bathroom can be. But, have you ever considered using vinyl lettering, or wall words to create uniquely elegant decor for your bathroom?

Vinyl letters can be used by installing vinyl wall lettering that features favorite quotes, shapes, or even an elegant boarder around the top of the room. Before you know what kind of wall letters you’ll want to install you’ll first need to know the following:

Style

First determine the style or “look” you’re going for. This will help determine not only the saying, but the size, the font, and any flourishes, or decorative emblems you’ll use. Knowing the look you’re trying to create can help you decide if your lettering should be elegant, chic, fun, or modern.

Color

Secondly, you’ll need to know what colors would properly accent your current walls and decor. It’s often helpful to use a color palette to see which colors match your decor. Nothing will throw off the look of your new design more than improperly matched colors.
